The critical issue for students today is communication.
Everyone has a smart phone – but having access is not the same as having skill, if you know what I mean.
Across every major, the major challenge is being able to express your ideas. Think about it: how does a professor test for critical thinking skills, in any subject?
– You are asked to write an essay.
– You are asked to give a presentation.
– You are asked to create a project – a creative endeavor of some kind, that illustrates how you have synthesized the concepts from a particular class.
What would it mean to you, if you understood how to convey your story in a way that’s concise, compelling and clear? At Indiana State University, I’ll be talking with students in Communication Studies, Business and across all majors, to explore the most critical of all critical thinking skills: communication.
The way you communicate with others will teach people how to treat you, how to pay you, how to follow your ideas…even how to invest in your business. Effective communication is the system that underlies every other system in our society – and the ability to connect with clarity is the central component of career success. In fact, our relationships and even our identity are determined (and discovered) through what we say and do.
Join me for new discoveries at Tilson Auditorium on the campus of Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana, on Tuesday, March 28 at 7pm. I’ll share the ideas and strategies that have helped my clients to land on Shark Tank, Dragon’s Den and Shark Tank – Australia. These ideas have helped launch over 50 businesses, landed over $30 million in funding and created hundreds of jobs. As a business coach, I’ve worked with thousands of business leaders – from freshman year all the way to the C-Suite – and we will be talking about new ways to change the conversation.
Everyone has a story to tell: What’s Yours?
